PERIODONTAL DENTAL TREATMENTS

PERIODONTAL DISEASE

LIFE-CHANGING DENTISTRY
“No other dental specialists had the expertise to take on my case”

“I was just so down about the way my teeth looked. Every time I glanced in the mirror I thought they looked horrendous and it had got to the stage where I covered my mouth with my hand when I spoke. I hated pictures of myself smiling and had become incredibly self-conscious. You get paranoid, imagining all the time what people are thinking when you speak or smile.

I came across the Windsor Centre for Advanced Dentistry on the internet. I looked at the case studies and could really relate to them. When I saw the before and after shots of patients they’d treated I just thought ‘wow’ – if they could do that for me it would be fantastic. The treatment spanned two years but once on the road I never looked back. The most memorable moment was relatively early on, when I had the first temporary bridge fitted; even then my teeth looked a hundred times better than before and I could already see what a dramatic transformation there was going to be. I was able to start smiling again.

What especially impressed me was their professionalism and friendliness. Everyone made me feel so at ease and the atmosphere was totally relaxed and calm. It sounds odd, but it was actually a lovely place to be! And Tidu’s skill is quite exceptional. I’d rung around other dental specialists before choosing his practice but none were willing or had the expertise to take on my case. I felt quite desperate before and I worried about the future, but having the work done has been so liberating and it’s enabled me to get on with my life.”

Periodontal Disease & Dental Implants

What is periodontal disease?

Periodontal disease – commonly known as gum disease – is a widespread health problem estimated to affect up to half of the adult population. The disease destroys the healthy gum attachment to the roots of the teeth, leading to gum infection, gum recession, bone loss around the teeth and halitosis (bad breath). If untreated it will lead to tooth loosening, drifting and tooth loss.

These slides & panoramic x-rays show the difference between a healthy patient (left) and one with advanced periodontal disease (right).

You can see the gum recession and open ‘holes’ between the teeth as well as the huge amount of bone loss around the roots of the teeth.

Advanced periodontal disease often leads to the loss of many teeth and leaves sufferers with severely compromised function and aesthetics, as well as affecting their general health and quality of life.

Life-Changing Solutions

The Challenge:Advanced periodontal disease and severe bone loss

The Solution:Periodontal disease treatment, full mouth rehabilitation and dental implants

Our 38-year old patient was devastated by the thought of losing her teeth and having dentures.

Many of her teeth were beyond help and, due to the severe nature of the bone loss, providing her with a lasting aesthetic solution that would rebuild her gum tissue and bone presented a real challenge.

However, with our expertise we were able to treat and eradicate the disease as well as save a number of teeth, and with a carefully planned inter-disciplinary approach involving periodontal treatment, orthodontic treatment, and restorative treatment with dental implants and crowns we were able to rebuild and regenerate the gum and bone.

Our patient now has back a lovely healthy smile, and teeth that will look and function brilliantly for years to come.

The Challenge:Severe periodontal disease, bone loss and gum recession

The Solution:Periodontal disease treatment, orthodontics, full mouth rehabilitation and dental implants

Severe periodontal disease had ravaged this lady’s mouth and caused severe bone loss, gum recession, drifting and loosening of all her teeth. Faced with the prospect of losing her teeth and having dentures she sought us out.

We successfully treated the disease, saved a few lower front teeth, realigned the teeth with orthodontic braces and then restored the hopeless teeth with dental implant crowns and bridges after first regenerating her bone and gum tissue through a combination of orthodontics and surgical augmentation techniques. The ‘before’ X-ray (on the left) shows the extent of the bone loss which was successfully regenerated with orthodontic treatment and bone and gum rebuilding. The fabulous end result shows the complete restoration of the bone and gum tissue.

The Challenge:Periodontal disease and failing teeth

The Solution:Periodontal disease treatment, full mouth rehabilitation and dental implants

Years of neglect and the effects of smoking had ruined this gentleman’s teeth and smile.

A fantastic result was achieved in a very difficult case by carefully treating the disease to save some of the upper teeth and removing the failed teeth which were replaced with dental implants and crowns and bridges.

It’s easy to imagine the impact on this patient’s quality of life, smile and confidence.
